Sports holidays in the Gorges du Verdon
Do you like big spaces, nature in its wild state and thrills? Then Camping International is for you. From Castellane, you can quickly access climbing and paragliding activities, whatever your level. The most daring among you may opt for bungee jumping.
This is THE sport to do in the Verdon. Experienced climbers come here from all over the world to tame the sheer rock faces and create new routes in one of the most sought-after settings in Europe. 2,000 routes are currently open in the Verdon. They have evocative names, such as 'Massacre à la tronçonneuse' (Chainsaw massacre) or 'Dingomaniaque' (Dingomaniac). But don't worry, novices can also have a go at climbing in the Verdon on more accessible routes, supervised by qualified instructors from one of the many climbing clubs in the area.
Just a few kilometres from Castellane, the Aérogliss paragliding club offers courses, tandem flights or discovery flights. You will be accompanied by a qualified instructor. Taking off from the top of the Chalvet mountain, embrace the peace and quiet and with a bit of luck you may even see vultures or chamois. If you are fearless and in search of excitement, speak to your instructor when you register and they will offer you a customised flight!
If rafting, climbing or paragliding isn't exciting enough for you then you can always go bungee jumping! Adrenalin rush guaranteed… Within a few dozen kilometres of Castellane, there are two sites offering this activity, in particular, Adrenaline Hunter, organising jumps from the Pont de l’Artuby (Artuby bridge), the highest in Europe!
